Boxer

Boxer follows a young fighter, Jędrzej Czernecki, who leaves communist Poland with only his wife, Kasia, at his side, driven by the ambition to become the greatest boxer in history. The drama centers on the couple's escape and the cost of pursuing that dream far from home.

The Polish production, released in September 2024, runs 150 minutes and was directed by Mitja Okorn, who wrote the screenplay with Lucas Coleman and Ivan Bezmarevic. It is Okorn's second feature, following Life in a Year in 2020. Eryk Kulm jr plays Jędrzej, with Adrianna Chlebicka as Kasia, and Eryk Lubos, Adam Woronowicz, Jacek Poniedziałek and Bartłomiej Kotschedoff in supporting roles. The film credits a cast of 106 and a crew of 156, with Maciej Kawulski and Tomasz Wardyn producing for Open Mind Production.

Audience response has been moderate and divided by scale: on IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from around 1,500 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7 out of 10 from roughly 54 votes, a much smaller sample. The two figures suggest a film that found a modest viewership rather than a broad one.
