The Wailing

The Wailing is a horror film centered on Andrea, a young woman searching for her biological family who finds herself targeted by an invisible presence. This oppressive threat manifests through an unsettling crying sound and a figure only visible in recordings. The story links Andrea's experience to events that occurred twenty years earlier in a different part of the world, where a woman named Marie faced the same entity while Camila attempted to warn her of the danger.

Directed by Pedro Martín Calero, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Isabel Peña, the movie is a joint production between Argentina, Spain, and France. The cast features Ester Expósito in the lead role of Andrea, alongside Mathilde Ollivier as Marie and Malena Villa as Camila. José Luis Ferrer appears as the man in black. The production involved a credited crew of 92 people and a cast of 39 actors.

Since its release, the film has maintained a consistent reception across different platforms. It holds a 6/10 rating on IMDb based on 2,900 votes and a 6/10 rating on TMDB from 130 users. Film critics gave the movie a slightly higher score, with a rating of 6.9/10 derived from 24 reviews.
