Mutant Chronicles

Set in the year 2707, the film takes place on an Earth stripped of its natural resources, where competing corporations have spent years fighting over what little remains. During one such battle, an ancient seal is broken and a long-buried machine reactivates, turning people into mutants and threatening what is left of humanity. A brotherhood that had guarded the machine's location gathers a small group of soldiers, led by Major Mitch Hunter, and sends them into the depths to shut it down for good.

Simon Hunter directed from a screenplay by Philip Eisner, with Edward R. Pressman, Pras Michel and Tim Dennison producing. The cast includes Ron Perlman as Brother Samuel, Thomas Jane as Mitch Hunter, Devon Aoki, Sean Pertwee, Benno Fürmann and John Malkovich. It is the first of the three features Hunter has directed, followed by Edie and Can You Hear Me?, and it adapts the Mutant Chronicles role-playing game.

Made for 8 million USD, the film took about 2 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.2/10 from 28,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.3/10 from 513 votes; a critics' rating of 3.6/10 from 35 reviews places it below those audience scores.
