Two childhood friends in their thirties, Adele and Sofia, reunite after a long period of separation to climb Mount Etna and fulfill a lifelong dream. As they ascend, accumulated tensions lead to a bitter conflict that reveals long-hidden secrets and old emotional wounds. The two women part ways just as the volcano begins to shake. Adele continues the climb alone, later feeling regret that she did not return to reach the crater with Sofia to experience the mountain's breath together.
