What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the «Resident Evil» series of computer games (1996 – present, Capcom).
- On December 18, 2008, Capcom released a game based on the film for the Nokia N-Gage second-generation mobile platform, and a version for iPhone was released on May 10, 2009. The game's plot follows the film.
- Leon is armed with the same pistol as in the Resident Evil 4 game – the Silver Ghost, which incorporates elements of the HK USP, Ruger P85, and Smith & Wesson Sigma.
- Claire arms herself with an umbrella, the color of which is similar to the Umbrella Corporation's logo. She immediately says: “I never would have thought.” (Umbrella translates to “Parasol” from English.)
- After Curtis injects himself with the G-virus, he transforms into a monster just like William Birkin from the second game in the series.
- WillPharma's chief researcher, Frederick Downing, bears a striking resemblance to Wesker (the antagonist from the game).
