Short description
Being one of 101 takes its toll on Patch, who doesn't feel unique. When he's accidentally left behind on moving day, he meets his idol, Thunderbolt, who enlists him on a publicity campaign.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Several characters from the cartoon 'Lady and the Tramp' (Jock, Trusty) and 'Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure' (Scamp) appear during the 'Audition' and 'Twilight Bark' scenes.
  • There is a 7-minute documentary film where ordinary dogs travel around the Disney studio and learn about how the cartoon was made. This documentary is used in the DVD releases of the cartoon.
  • Two interactive games were released based on the cartoon's plot: 'Lost in London' and 'Patch's Night Adventure'.
  • In the first cartoon, many puppies had black ears. But in the second cartoon, only Patch has a black ear. This was done by the creators to show that Patch is 'one of a kind'.
  • Larz's painting "Black Circle" is a reference to Kazimir Malevich's "Black Circle".
  • In the first cartoon, Cruella de Vil has pale gray skin and a pale yellow coat. In this cartoon, her skin and coat are white.
  • In the cartoon, the dog Thunder says to Patch that he once knew "a guy who had 10 or 12 puppies," but he doesn't remember the exact number. Notably, Pongo (the father of the Dalmatian family) originally had 15 puppies in the first cartoon.
  • Patch is distinguished by a black spot around his right eye and a black right ear. In the second cartoon, the left ear turns black.
  • In the first cartoon, 15 puppies are known to have been kidnapped, while the rest were bought by Cruella. In the second part, according to some characters, all 101 Dalmatians are known. Moreover, according to the first cartoon, the total number of Dalmatian puppies was 99, plus two adults (the parents), as evidenced by the second half of the second cartoon, but in its first half, only the number of puppies is mentioned as 101.
  • During the scenes “The Audition” and “Twilight Barking”, several characters from the cartoons “Lady and the Tramp” (Jock, Trusty) and “Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure” (Scamp) appear.
