The premiere of the film on the American cable channel Disney Channel on June 20, 2008, gathered an audience of 8.86 million viewers, which at that time was the second-highest result in the channel's entire history.
The film's soundtrack album debuted at number three on the American Billboard music chart with 188,000 copies sold in its first week of release. The album was officially certified platinum, and more than 1.26 million copies were sold in the United States throughout 2008.
On May 13, 2008, a novelization based on the film titled “Camp Rock: The Junior Novel” was released, written by American author Lucy Ruggles.
The filming itself took only 25 days, but editing took a full seven months.
During Mitchie's musical solo, the parents of the Jonas brothers and Demi Lovato can be spotted in the crowd around her.
The working titles of the project were “Rock Camp Rules” and “Rock Camp On”.
