Die Ältern

Die Ältern is a German romantic comedy centered on Hannes, a writer struggling with a midlife crisis and a failing marriage. Unable to adapt to the changes brought by his growing children, Hannes finds his domestic stability collapsing as his professional success fades and his family distances themselves. After his wife asks for a separation and moves out with their daughter, he meets another woman who challenges him to step outside his comfort zone.

Directed by Sönke Wortmann, this film follows Weddings and Wokes: A Family Dilemma (2024) in his filmography. The screenplay was written by Robert Gold and Jan Weiler, and the production was handled by Constantin Film and Little Shark Entertainment. The movie stars Sebastian Bezzel as Hannes, alongside Anna Schudt as Sara and Kya-Celina Barucki as Carla. Philip Müller, Enzo Brumm, and Philip Günsch also appear in the cast.
