Tilda balances a rigid daily routine of university studies and a supermarket job with the responsibility of caring for her younger sister, Ida, and her mother, who struggles with alcoholism. Her hope for a different future grows during one summer when she is offered a doctoral position in Berlin. During this time, she also connects with Viktor, a fellow swimmer who shares her habit of completing twenty-two laps in the pool. However, just as Tilda envisions a path toward independence, her family circumstances deteriorate.
