Stigma

Stigma is a drama and thriller that begins with the accidental death of a thirty-year-old man. During an autopsy, investigators discover identification showing the man was a Buddhist monk named Revatha. Because he had left the monastic order before he died, the community where he lived becomes conflicted. Local parishioners object to his body being returned to the temple or receiving a traditional monk's funeral. The narrative then moves backward to explore the events and history that led to his passing.

The film was directed and written by Chaminda Ilukwela. The main cast features Sulochana Akalanka in the role of Rewatha Monk and Nita Fernando as Yasoma. The movie has a total runtime of 96 minutes and was released on December 1, 2023.
