Short Summer

Set in Russia in 2004, this drama follows eight-year-old Katya as she spends her summer vacation with her grandparents in a rural village. While the countryside appears peaceful and time seems to stand still, the girl navigates a childhood filled with tenderness and adventure against a harsher backdrop. The quiet of the village is contrasted by the instability of adult relationships and the distant but destructive influence of war in Chechnya.

The film was directed by Nastia Korkia, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Mikhail Bushkov. A joint production between Germany, Serbia, and France, the movie was produced by Tamtam Film, Totem Atelier, and Art & Popcorn. It premiered on August 30, 2025, with a total runtime of 101 minutes.
