Fjord

A devout couple moves from Romania to a remote Norwegian village near a fjord to start over following the death of the husband's parents. The Gheorghiu family quickly forms a close bond with their neighbors, the Halbergs, and their children become friends despite having different upbringings. This stability is threatened when the eldest daughter, Elia, appears at school with bruises. The local community and authorities begin to question if the parents' traditional methods of education are actually abusive, leading to a conflict over faith, cultural identity, and social values.

Written and directed by Cristian Mungiu, Fjord is the fifth feature film in his career, following R.M.N. The cast is led by Sebastian Stan as Mihai Gheorghiu and Renate Reinsve as Lisbet Gheorghiu, alongside Lisa Carlehed, Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Henrikke Lund Olsen. A production involving companies from several countries, including France, Norway, and Romania, the film had a budget of 5 million USD. It has received a positive response from viewers, holding a rating of 7.2/10 on TMDB based on 74 votes.
