Short description

As if Swallowed by Earth is an animated drama about a woman named Olivia who returns to her hometown in Mexico after living abroad. While she hopes to reconnect with her roots, the trip brings back difficult memories of violence she experienced as a child. She discovers that this environment of conflict has persisted, making it impossible for her to find peace with her past.

The short film was written and directed by Natalia León, who also provided the voice for the adult version of the main character. The cast includes Carolina Zárate Wall as the young Olivia, Rebeca Magdely González as the mother, and GAYA as the pretty girl. This fourteen-minute production was created in France and produced by several companies, including ARTE, XBO films, Studio Les Affranchis, and Have A Nice Day Films. It was released on January 24, 2025.
