The Loneliest Man in Town

The upcoming Austrian documentary drama The Loneliest Man in Town follows Al Cook, an elderly blues musician living in Vienna. Surrounded by a vast collection of records, books, and instruments, Cook exists in a world of memories while the modern city moves on around him. The central conflict arises when the building housing his home and rehearsal studio is scheduled for demolition. Facing the loss of his sanctuary and the items that connect him to his past and his late wife, Cook is forced to confront his isolation. In the face of this displacement, he considers pursuing a long-abandoned dream of visiting the Mississippi Delta.

The film is directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel, with Covi also handling the screenplay and producing alongside Frimmel. It is produced by Vento Film and stars Alois Koch in the role of Al Cook. The movie has a runtime of 86 minutes and is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026.
