At Work is a French drama that follows a successful photographer who decides to leave his career behind to pursue his lifelong passion for writing. After publishing his first novel, he finds that literary recognition does not translate into financial stability. To survive, he takes on various low-paying odd jobs, working as a waiter, a handyman, and a bicycle courier. Despite facing extreme poverty and a precarious economic situation, he remains committed to his creative vocation and begins working on a second book.
The film was directed by Valérie Donzelli, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Gilles Marchand. This project follows her previous directorial efforts, Notre Dame and Just the Two of Us. The cast is led by Bastien Bouillon, supported by Virginie Ledoyen, André Marcon, Marie Rivière, and Adrien Barazzone, with Donzelli appearing in the role of the protagonist's former wife. The production was a collaboration between France 2 Cinéma, Les Films de Françoise, Pitchipoï Productions, and Montmartre Films. Since its release, the movie has received a rating of 6.6/10 on TMDB based on 76 votes.
