Jinsei

Jinsei is an animated drama following a single life across a hundred years. Its central figure goes by a different name in each stage of that life, moving from a lonely childhood into a struggle to become a J-pop idol. A chance meeting with a transfer student sets him on the path toward that career and toward a search for who he really is. Told in chapters that reach into the past, present and future, the film also turns to the darker side of the entertainment industry, war and other social questions, following its protagonist through roles that include idol, outcast, leader and oracle.

The film was written, directed and edited by Ryuya Suzuki, who also drew it entirely by hand over eighteen months, working with producer Kenji Iwaisawa. The voice cast is led by rapper ACE COOL as the protagonist, alongside Taketo Tanaka, Shohei Uno, Remi Tyon, Katsuya Maiguma and Kanji Tsuda. It runs 93 minutes, was produced in Japan by Greenwich Entertainment, Rock'n Roll Mountain and INTERFILM, and was released on 16 May 2025.

Jinsei is a Japanese animation, drama and science fiction film. It was made outside the established studio system and was Suzuki's feature introduction to audiences, arriving as the work of a new independent voice rather than as part of an existing series of films.
