Short description

A Minecraft Movie Squared is an upcoming family adventure film blending comedy and fantasy. In this second entry of the franchise, characters Steve and Alex continue their journey through the Overworld, where they encounter new challenges and explore territories that have not been visited before.

The movie is directed by Jared Hess, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Galletta. This project follows Hess's previous work, including A Minecraft Movie released in 2025, as well as earlier titles such as Napoleon Dynamite and Thelma the Unicorn. The production is a joint effort between the United States and Sweden, involving Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, and On the Roam. The cast features Jack Black as Steve and Kirsten Dunst as Alex, returning alongside Jason Momoa as Garrett. Other roles are played by Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, and Emma Myers. The film is scheduled for release on July 22, 2027.
