The Man who Laughs

Dmitriy is a famous action star known for his stern and expressionless demeanor. He accepts a high-paying role in a crime drama set in the 1990s, where he plays a ruthless assassin for a wealthy Siberian businessman named Sergey. During production, an accidental shooting leads to a medical procedure that leaves Dmitriy with a permanent smile and an inability to express any emotion other than laughter. Because of the nature of his agreement with Sergey, he is forced to continue filming despite his new condition.

This comedy was directed by Vladimir Kott, following his previous works including Both are Two, In the Name of a Prank 3, Man and Woman, and Frozen Heart. The screenplay was written by Aleksandr Berezhnoy and produced by Georgy Malkov. The film features Yevgeni Tsyganov in the lead role as Dmitry, with Stepan Devonin playing the actor's agent and Sergey Garmash appearing as Sergey. Dmitry Gorevoy also appears in the cast.
