An Unkept Secret follows a married couple who have witnessed a violent crime and must decide whether to report it. Their hesitation has reasons of its own, and as those reasons come into focus, the couple arrives at a discovery that changes how they understand the situation.
The 2024 drama-thriller runs 85 minutes and was directed by Joe Koch from a screenplay by Ryan Miller. Its small scale suits the material: the story turns on a single decision and the private calculations behind it rather than on a large canvas or an extensive cast. At that length the film has room to dwell on the moment of choice and what follows from it, keeping the tension between doing the expected thing and protecting oneself at the centre of the drama.
The film belongs to the early part of Koch's directing work and is one of his earlier features. No rating or audience score is recorded for it, so its reception rests on the premise itself and on the performances that carry the couple's dilemma. The combination of a domestic relationship and a crime the pair only observe places the film in well-established thriller territory, while Miller's script keeps the conflict internal to the marriage rather than following an investigation outward.
