A Fading Man

A Fading Man is a German drama about the disruption of a stable relationship. Hanne and her partner, Bernd, live a quiet, orderly life until Hanne's former husband, Kurt, unexpectedly returns. Because Kurt suffers from dementia, he has no memory of their divorce from two decades ago. As the couple allows him into their home, the presence of the former spouse initially brings a sense of lightness to Hanne and Bernd's partnership, but their domestic stability eventually begins to unravel.

The film was directed by Welf Reinhart, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tünde Sautier. It features a cast led by Dagmar Manzel as Hanne, Harald Krassnitzer as Kurt, and August Zirner as Bernd, with supporting roles played by Lene Dax, Dionne Wudu, and Marion Freundorfer. Produced by companies including ARTE, BR, Maverick Film, and Merki & Reinhart Film, the movie has a runtime of 100 minutes. It was released on May 7, 2026.
