Missing in Action

Missing in Action follows Colonel James Braddock, an American Special Forces veteran of the Vietnam War who escaped from a Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp. Years after the conflict, questions remain about American servicemen still unaccounted for, and suspicions persist that some of them are being held in camps. Braddock is drawn into an effort to locate and free these men, a mission that sends him back into the country he once escaped and puts him on a collision course with those holding the prisoners.

The film is an action-adventure directed by Joseph Zito, working from a screenplay by James Bruner. It was produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus for Cannon Group and Golan-Globus Productions, and shot in the United States and the Philippines. Chuck Norris plays Braddock, heading a cast that includes M. Emmet Walsh, David Tress, Lenore Kasdorf, James Hong and Pierrino Mascarino. It appeared in 1984 between Zito's Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and Invasion U.S.A., the second of the five features he directed in that stretch.

Made for about 3 million dollars, the film returned roughly 23 million dollars worldwide, a strong multiple on its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from over sixteen thousand votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.9 from several hundred. A critics' rating of 4.2 from sixteen reviews places it below the audience scores.
