This drama follows figure skater Ondrej Nepela after he wins a gold medal at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo. While he achieves the peak of his athletic career, he struggles with the restrictive nature of the communist regime. Despite his public fame, Nepela seeks personal freedom and a life true to his identity. His hopes are dashed when he is barred from joining a professional ice revue and is instead ordered to compete in another World Championship. Amidst this disappointment, he must find a reason to continue while grieving the death of his close friend and fellow skater, Hana Mašková.
The film was written and directed by Gregor Valentovič and is a joint production between Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It features Josef Trojan in the lead role as Ondrej Nepela, appearing alongside Zuzana Mauréry, Antonie Formanová, Tereza Smetanová, Martin Toman, and Sára Polyáková. The production involved several companies, including Infilm, Azyl Production, Punkchart films, and Cinetim. With a runtime of 100 minutes, the movie utilized a credited cast of 49 actors.
