Set in 1960s Japan during a period of economic growth and strict moral policing, this drama explores the legal conflict surrounding sex reassignment surgery. While laws against prostitution targeted women, male sex workers known as blue boys remained largely ignored. The story centers on the arrest of a doctor who performed gender-affirming operations, leading to a high-profile court case. Three transgender women testify during the trial, sparking a nationwide conversation about medical ethics and personal identity. Although the court eventually ruled that these surgeries were legal, the decision resulted in a nearly three-decade hiatus for such procedures within the country.
The film was directed by Kashou Iizuka, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Yuiko Kato and Tsuneo Miura. The production was a collaboration between Nikkatsu Corporation, KDDI, Office Shirous, and Amuse Creative Studio. The cast features Miyu Nakagawa as Sachi, Kou Maehara as Atsuhiko, Ataru Nakamura as Mei, Izumi Sexy as Āchi, Reo Sanada as Betty, and Hirofumi Mutsukawa as Yuki. Released on November 14, 2025, the movie has a runtime of 106 minutes.
