This documentary explores the life and work of Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, focusing specifically on a period of instability in 1956. Facing the collapse of his marriage to Ingrid Bergman and a string of professional failures, Rossellini struggled with intense public scrutiny and a creative block. After Bergman returned to Hollywood, he traveled to India at the request of Prime Minister Nehru to film the country's development. This journey served as a search for emotional and artistic renewal, as he drew inspiration from the intersection of Indian tradition and modern progress.
The film was released on November 3, 2025, and has a runtime of 96 minutes. A co-production between Italy and Latvia, it was produced by RAI Cinema, VFS Films, and B&B Film. The project was directed by Ilaria De Laurentiis, Andrea Paolo Massara, and Raffaele Brunetti, with Brunetti also serving as a producer alongside Uldis Cekulis. The cast features Sergio Castellitto portraying Roberto Rossellini, Kasia Smutniak as Ingrid Bergman, and Isabella Rossellini appearing as herself.
