Xanadu

Xanadu is a musical fantasy about a Greek muse who comes to Earth and becomes involved with two men: Sonny Malone, a frustrated artist, and Danny McGuire, an older entertainer. Together they set out to open a lavish roller disco that gives the film its title, while a romance develops between the muse and her mortal partner. The story blends mythology with the pop culture of its time and looks back to the Hollywood musical tradition while embracing contemporary music.

Robert Greenwald directed the film from a screenplay by Marc Reid Rubel and Richard Christian Danus, with Lawrence Gordon producing for Universal Pictures. Olivia Newton-John stars as Kira, the muse, and Gene Kelly appears as Danny McGuire, with Michael Beck as Sonny Malone.
