Short description
An orphan in a facility run by the mean Miss Hannigan, Annie believes that her parents left her there by mistake. When a rich man named Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks decides to let an orphan live at his home to promote his image, Annie is selected. While Annie gets accustomed to living in Warbucks' mansion, she still longs to meet her parents. So Warbucks announces a search for them and a reward, which brings out many frauds.
What's left behind the scenes
- Actress Bette Midler declined the role of Agatha Hannigan that was offered to her.
- The director's cameo is a male voice from Miss Hannigan's radio before the song "Little Girls".
- As filming neared completion, Carol Burnett had a chin augmentation. After the stitches were removed, the cast was called back to reshoot some scenes. Therefore, a difference in the actress's appearance can be seen at the end of the film.
- Eileen Quinn experienced itching from the red wig, and the makeup artists gave her a special comb so that the actress could alleviate the discomfort without ruining her hairstyle.
- Daddy Warbucks' mansion was built in 1929 by Hubert Parsons, president of the F.W. Woolworth Company. It is now Woodrow Wilson Hall.
- Production designer Dale Hennessy passed away suddenly during filming, and his work was continued by Jean Callahan, who declined to be credited, paying tribute to his deceased colleague.
