Cry Out

Akiko struggles with a difficult home life following the death of her father and the arrival of her mother's abusive partner. While facing bullying at school, she begins receiving supportive letters sent from her thirty-year-old future self. A teacher named Shinomiya attempts to assist her, though these efforts lead to the loss of his job. During this time, Akiko discovers a written account from her father describing his early relationship with her mother, who was once the mistreated daughter of a politician.

This Japanese drama was directed by Takahisa Zeze, following his previous work on The Boy and the Dog in 2025. The screenplay was written by Ryota Kato and produced by Tomohiro Abe, Yusaku Emoto, and Sakura Hashimoto through U-NEXT.
