Short description

Set in the Bronx during the tumultuous 1960s, an adolescent boy is torn between his honest, working-class father and a violent yet charismatic crime boss. Complicating matters is the youngster's growing attraction - forbidden in his neighborhood - for a beautiful black girl.

The film is based on the autobiographical work of Chazz Palminteri.
Catherine Narducci brought her 9-year-old son to the audition for the role of young Calogero. There she learned that the role of the hero's mother was also available, asked if she could audition for it, passed the screen test, and got the part. The role she brought her son to audition for went to Francis Capra.
In order to drive the bus on set, Robert De Niro had to obtain a standard driver's license with the right to transport passengers.
Chazz Palminteri refused to sell the film rights to the book until De Niro gave him the opportunity to write the screenplay and play one of the lead roles in the movie.
According to the rules of Russian orthography, the word “Bronx” is written with two “s”s. However, in Russia, this film was released under the title “Bronx Story” with one “s”.
