The Delta Force

A Boeing 707 flying from Athens to Rome and on to New York is taken over by terrorists who force the crew to set a course for Beirut, where the group's leader plans to single out and remove certain passengers. Washington responds by sending Delta Force, an elite counter-terrorism unit led by Colonel Nick Alexander and Major Scott McCoy, to end the standoff and free the hostages. What begins as an operation to storm the aircraft turns into a wider pursuit, as some of the passengers are moved onward to Tehran and the commandos must reach them before time runs out.

The film is a Cannon Group production directed by Menahem Golan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Bruner and produced alongside Yoram Globus. It followed Golan's earlier directing work on Diamonds, The Apple and Enter the Ninja, and came before Over the Top and Armstrong. Chuck Norris heads the cast as McCoy, with Lee Marvin as Alexander and Robert Forster as the terrorist leader Abdul; Martin Balsam, Joey Bishop and Lainie Kazan appear among the passengers, and the production credits list 69 cast members and 63 crew.

Made for 9 million dollars, it returned roughly twice that amount worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.7/10 from around 24,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6/10 from 544 votes, both indicating a modest but durable following.
