Zu Warriors

Zu Warriors is a Hong Kong fantasy action film set in the mythical realm of Zu, where immortal warriors guard the world and the boundaries between the human, martial and supernatural spheres are thin. An evil force known as Insomnia threatens this order, having devastated the Kun Lun Mountain centuries earlier. King Sky, the lone surviving disciple of the Kun Lun Sect, lost his master and beloved Dawn in that attack and has waited two hundred years for her return. When he meets Enigma, who carries Dawn's reincarnation, he is drawn to her again, while the forces of Insomnia gather under the Blood Clouds and set their sights on Zu. The warrior Red also plays a central part in the stand against the invading power, alongside members of the Omei clan.

Tsui Hark directed and co-wrote the film with Lee Man-Choi; it was the nineteenth of the thirty-one features he has directed, following Knock Off and preceding 1:99 Shorts. The cast includes Ekin Cheng Yee-Kin as King Sky, Louis Koo as Red, Cecilia Cheung Pak-Chi as Dawn and Enigma, Kelly Lin as Amnesia, Zhang Ziyi as Joy and Wu Jing as Ying.

The production carried a budget of about 35 million US dollars and returned roughly 8 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from around 3,800 votes, and on TMDB 5.7 out of 10 from about 80 votes, a narrower sample. A critics' rating of 3.3 out of 10 from five reviews sits below both audience scores.
