The Kid Brother

The Kid Brother is a silent comedy set in a small rural town, where Harold Hickory is the shy youngest son of Sheriff Jim Hickory, the area's most prominent figure. Harold's father and his two older brothers are all physically imposing men, and Harold, who handles household chores rather than the family's rugged work, is treated as a child by them. When a large sum of money collected from the community for a dam is taken from the sheriff's safe and his father is blamed, Harold sets out to track down those responsible and clear the family name, hoping at the same time to prove that he deserves more respect. A young woman who has arrived in town with a traveling show becomes the focus of his romantic hopes.

The film was directed by Ted Wilde, whose second credited feature, Speedy, followed in 1928. Harold Lloyd stars as Harold Hickory, with Jobyna Ralston as Mary Powers, and Walter James, Leo Willis and Olin Francis appear as the sheriff and his two elder sons.
