“Vaterland” or A Bule Named Yanto

A German-Indonesian man named Yanto travels to Yogyakarta to visit his younger sister. While he anticipates a straightforward family reunion, he discovers that his sister fits into the local environment with an ease he cannot find for himself. This realization leads to friction and jealousy between the siblings, turning the visit into a reflection on the challenges of having a mixed-race identity.

The film was directed by Berthold Wahjudi and is the second project he has directed following Baby Brother in 2024. Produced by Sylvain Cruiziat and Jonas Egert, the movie has a runtime of 25 minutes. It was released on May 19, 2026, under the titles Vaterland and A Bule Named Yanto.
