This drama centers on a production of the play Electra, focusing on a daughter driven by rage and grief in her pursuit of justice. The narrative shifts when an actress suddenly stops speaking during the performance. This event leads to a tense encounter between two women, causing the distinction between their actual identities and their theatrical roles to vanish as communication fails.
Directed and written by Benedict Andrews, this project follows his previous work on Una and Seberg. The production features Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss, who both portray the roles of Electra and Clytemnestra, alongside Ella Lily Hyland as Chrysothemis. Other cast members include Patrick Robinson as Aegisthus, Natalie Thomas as the understudy for Electra, and Celia Nelson as Clytemnestra. Produced by the National Theatre in the United Kingdom, the film was released on September 23, 2026.
