Short description

Upcoming drama Giant is set during the summer of 1983, shortly before the publication of The Witches. The story focuses on a stressful encounter between author Roald Dahl and his publishers from Britain and the United States. The conflict arises as the publishers attempt to manage the repercussions of a book review Dahl wrote regarding the 1982 Lebanon war, in which he publicly supported Palestinians and condemned Israel. The production was filmed live on the stage of the Harold Pinter Theatre in London's West End in 2025.

The film is directed by Nicholas Hytner, following his previous work on The Madness of King George, The Crucible, The Object of My Affection, Center Stage, The Lady in the Van, and The Choral. The screenplay was written by Mark Rosenblatt and the movie stars John Lithgow in the role of Roald Dahl. Produced by Trafalgar Releasing in the United Kingdom, the film has a runtime of 136 minutes and is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
