20001 An Earth Odyssey

Set in the year 20001, this science fiction comedy follows three extraterrestrials who visit the ruins of Earth to study the extinct human race. Because they view humans as highly intelligent, the visitors mistakenly identify everyday objects as complex tools or sacred sites, such as seeing umbrellas as communication devices and graveyards as farmland. The group includes a well-meaning captain and a rigid analyst who both rely on flawed logic, while their youngest member begins to grasp the nature of humanity through empathy and emotion.

The animated short was directed by Haruki Kasugamori and written by Yumiko Yoshizawa and Taiki Sakurai. It was produced by Salamander Pictures and Nippon Animation in Japan. The voice cast features Yoji Ueda as Kepo, Yu Kobayashi as Alcia, and Eito Kawahara as Regal. Released on July 18, 2026, the film has a runtime of eight minutes.
