Rhys Darby: 25 Years

Rhys Darby: 25 Years is a stand-up comedy special in which the New Zealand comedian marks a quarter-century of performing by revisiting the routines he considers his favourites. Known for telling fanciful stories and for his skill in physical comedy, Darby builds his act around bringing his imagination to life on stage for a live audience.

The special is Darby's own screenplay credit and his sixth comedy special, following Imagine That, It's Rhys Darby Night, This Way to Spaceship, I'm a Fighter Jet and Mystic Time Bird. He appears as himself and is the only performer in the cast. 800 Pound Gorilla Media produced the special, which was made in the United States and runs 62 minutes. It was released on 18 August 2026.

Darby's wider career is mostly as a comedy actor and voice artist. His breakthrough came playing Murray, an endearing but hapless band manager, in the series Flight of the Conchords, and he has since appeared in films including Jumanji and What We Do in the Shadows, along with television work ranging from sitcoms to travel shows. He has toured widely and regularly headlines festivals such as Just for Laughs and the Edinburgh Fringe.
