Fifty Dead Men Walking

Fifty Dead Men Walking is set in Belfast in 1989, during the conflict in Northern Ireland, and follows Martin McGartland, a small-time criminal recruited by British intelligence to infiltrate the IRA. Working under a handler known as Fergus, he rises within the organisation while passing information to the police. As his position deepens, the danger to himself and those close to him grows, and the double life he leads becomes increasingly difficult to sustain. The film is based on a true story.

Kari Skogland directed and wrote the screenplay; it is the seventh film in her directing career, following Banshee in 2006. The cast is led by Jim Sturgess as Martin and Ben Kingsley as Fergus, with Kevin Zegers, Natalie Press, Rose McGowan and Tom Collins among the credited performers. The production was mounted across the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and Northern Ireland, with Téléfilm Canada, Brightlight Pictures, Northern Ireland Screen and Future Films among the companies involved; 42 cast members and 48 crew members are credited.
