Dan Saxon is a police officer who goes undercover to infiltrate a biker gang suspected of running drugs and weapons. To be accepted by the group and its leader, he has to take part in their criminal activity, and the longer he stays inside the role, the more the line between his job and the person he is pretending to be begins to blur. The assignment puts him at odds with a corrupt superior and draws in a journalist named Renee, while the gang's violence and the scale of the operation push him toward choices he cannot easily undo.
Larry Ferguson directed and wrote the film, which was released in 1993 and runs 108 minutes. It was his first feature as director after a career writing screenplays. Charlie Sheen plays Dan Saxon, with Linda Fiorentino as Renee, Michael Madsen as the gang leader Blood, Courtney B. Vance as Conroy Price, Leon Rippy as Virgil and Dennis Burkley as Oatmeal. The production, backed by Live Entertainment, Capitol Films and Polar Entertainment, had a budget of 18 million dollars.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.4 from around 8,800 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6.3 from 174 votes. Both audience scores land in similar territory, indicating a modest but durable following for the crime drama rather than broad acclaim.
