Sadie Blake, a reporter, looks into a cult whose members claim the dead can rise and who mix old rituals with private parties. When she gets too close, the group turns on her and she wakes up in a morgue with bite marks on her neck and a new, blood-dependent existence. Rather than accept what she has become, she sets out after the people who killed her, crossing paths with detective Clyde Rawlins, whose daughter died at the hands of the same circle.
The film is directed and written by Sebastian Gutierrez, the first of the three features he has directed, ahead of Hotel Noir and Elizabeth Harvest. Lucy Liu plays Sadie, with Michael Chiklis as Rawlins and James D'Arcy as the cult's leader, Bishop. Carla Gugino, Samaire Armstrong and Marilyn Manson also appear in a credited cast of 32; the production is set in Los Angeles and was made in New Zealand and the United States by Mandate Pictures and Ghost House Pictures.
Released in April 2007 and running 97 minutes, it blends action and horror with thriller and adventure elements. Its worldwide box office of roughly 3 million dollars was modest, and on TMDB it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 307 votes, which indicates a limited and largely lukewarm response from viewers.
