Nancy Archer is a wealthy California woman whose drinking and unhappy marriage have left her in fragile health. Her husband Harry is having an affair with a younger woman, Honey Parker, and the two of them have their eyes on Nancy's fortune. After a violent encounter with a strange alien craft in the desert, Nancy returns home changed. Something the alien did to her causes her to grow to enormous size, and once she realizes how her husband has treated her, she sets out to take revenge on him and the woman he has been seeing.
The film was directed by Nathan H. Juran, whose earlier work includes 20 Million Miles to Earth and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, and it was written by Mark Hanna and produced by Bernard Woolner for Woolner Brothers Pictures. Allison Hayes plays Nancy, with William Hudson as Harry, Yvette Vickers as Honey, Roy Gordon, George Douglas and Otto Waldis in supporting roles. Running just over an hour, it was one of several science-fiction films Juran directed around this period, sitting between The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Jack the Giant Killer in his filmography.
On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 6.2 from 14 reviews, noticeably higher than its TMDB audience score of 4.8 from 172 votes, a split that reflects its reputation as a modestly regarded but enduring piece of late-1950s science fiction.
