- The film was shot simultaneously with Bradford May’s horror film “Man of Darkness II: Duran’s Return” (1994). Initially, it was assumed that the second film in the franchise would be “Man of Darkness III,” but at some point, a different decision was made, and the release dates of the films, along with the numbering in the title, were swapped.
- The films "Dark Man II" and "Dark Man III" were filmed simultaneously, so some shots from different films are completely identical to each other.
- While working on the script for "Dark Man III", Mike Werb and Michael Colleary refined the script for John Woo's action film "Face/Off". Woo's project was approved first, but the film was made after the films in the "Dark Man" franchise. Some elements of Woo's action film are similar to plot devices in "Dark Man III".
