Nobita and his friends use a time machine to send stray cats and dogs 300 million years into the past so they can live without human interference. Upon returning to check on the animals, they find that a Ray of Evolution has created a sophisticated society of cat and dog people. The group must help resolve conflicts between the two species while attempting to save Doraemon and protect the city from an impending asteroid strike. In a separate thread, an elderly dog attempts to travel to the future to meet someone but is reverted to a puppy due to a machine failure, leading to his discovery by a cat researcher.
