- The film is set in the fictional town of Bristo Camino, located in Ventura County, California. In Robert Crais's novel, on which the film is based, this town is called Bristo Bay.
- The word “fuck” is used 89 times in the film.
- Bruce Willis's daughter plays his daughter in the film, Rumer Willis. Rumer, who was 15 at the time of filming, wanted to get the role, but her father made her audition like everyone else, and she was ultimately chosen.
- Among the DVDs in Kevin Pollock's collection, one can notice the film "Negotiator" (1998), which also revolves around a police negotiator in emergency situations. The shelves also contain discs with the director Florent Emilio Siri's previous film, the French action movie "Wasps' Nest" (2002), and the police thriller "S.W.A.T." (2003).
