Hostage
Short description
Bruce Willis plays Jeff Talley, a former Los Angeles police hostage negotiator who left the city after a failed operation and took a quieter job as chief of police in a small town. His attempt at a low-key life ends when three young criminals break into the well-secured home of an accountant and take him and his two children hostage. Talley tries to defuse the standoff, but the household holds secrets that powerful criminals want kept, and they respond by seizing Talley's own wife and daughter to force him back into the role he abandoned.
The film was directed by Florent-Emilio Siri, released in 2005 and standing as his first feature before Elyas in 2024, from a screenplay by Doug Richardson. Willis produced alongside Bob Yari and Mark Gordon, and the cast includes Ben Foster as Mars Krupcheck, Jonathan Tucker as Dennis Kelly, Jimmy Bennett as Tommy Smith, Michelle Horn as Jennifer Smith and Marshall Allman as Kevin Kelly.
Made for about 52 million dollars, Hostage took in roughly 78 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from over 112,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.4 from a much smaller pool of about 1,800. A critics' rating of 5.2 from 153 reviews places it below both audience scores, indicating a mixed professional response alongside a more favourable viewer one.

- Bruce Willis's daughter plays his daughter in the film, Rumer Willis. Rumer, who was 15 at the time of filming, wanted to get the role, but her father made her audition like everyone else, and she was ultimately chosen.
