The Cutter
Short description
John Shepherd is a private investigator and former police officer who specializes in finding missing people. He is hired to locate Isaac Teller, a skilled diamond cutter who has been kidnapped by a mercenary working for a former Nazi. The kidnappers intend to force Teller to use his unique techniques to process stolen diamonds from an ancient artifact. Shepherd must navigate a world of crime and villainy to rescue the cutter and prevent the gems from entering the black market.
Directed by William Tannen, this action thriller was his second feature film following Nobody Knows Anything!. The movie stars Chuck Norris in the lead role alongside Joanna Pacula, Daniel Bernhardt, and Bernie Kopell. Produced by Nu Image, Millennium Media, and North by Northwest Entertainment, the project had a budget of 6 million USD.

- Work on the project took over 10 years. Three film studios took it on, and the script was rewritten at least five times to align with the wishes of the film companies or the stars. Initially, the film was set to take place in New York, then New York was replaced by Los Angeles, then Prague, and finally by the city of Spokane, Washington. During the final script change, all mentions of Israel and Hasidism (a religious movement in Judaism) were removed, and the action was moved to a diamond trading center in an unspecified American city. This was insisted upon by one of the producers.
