Steve and Susan Ireland are about to mark their fourth wedding anniversary, but the occasion goes badly wrong. A chance encounter with Steve's former girlfriend, who happens to be living in the same building, makes Susan suspect an affair, and she decides to file for divorce. Steve still loves his wife and is determined to win her back, while Susan makes her own moves to provoke his jealousy. Family pressures add to the strain on the marriage.
Jack Conway directed the comedy, working from a screenplay by David Hertz, Charles Lederer and William Ludwig. It was produced by Pandro S. Berman for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and followed Conway's 1940 film Boom Town. William Powell and Myrna Loy, a well-known screen pairing, lead the cast as Steve and Susan, with Gail Patrick, Jack Carson, Florence Bates and Sidney Blackmer in supporting roles. The film runs 99 minutes.
Released in May 1941, Love Crazy drew a worldwide box office take of about 2 million dollars. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.4 from roughly 3,800 votes, while on TMDB its rating stands at 6.8 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 7.3 from 10 reviews places it close to the audience score on IMDb. The film was made during a strong period for Powell and Loy's work together at MGM.
