What's left behind the scenes

  • Johnny Knoxville stated that his character, Irving Zisman, is a combination of his own father and a more perverse version of himself.
  • Despite his young age, Jackson Nicoll remained in character for almost the entire duration of filming.
  • This is the first 'Odd Couple' film where people outside of the 'Odd Couple' team participated in writing the screenplay. Screenwriters Fax Bahr and Adam Small previously wrote a parody of 'The Odd Couple' for their show MADtv.
  • Although scenes with Spike Jonze did not make it into the final version of the film, his name is listed in the end credits, and deleted scenes featuring him can be seen on DVD and Blu-ray.
  • Old Man Irving's car is a Lincoln, but the steering wheel inside is from a Ford, which is clearly noticeable from certain camera angles.
  • In the diner where Irving and Billy had the farting contest, Billy first eats his breakfast, and after a shot change, he is already eating chicken parmesan.
  • When Billy is sitting with Lisa, she is wearing a coat. When Irving approaches, she is already without a coat.
  • In the defecation scene, the smear on the wall appears after the grandfather has relieved himself. And the woman sitting behind Billy is initially not present. She appears when the grandfather and Billy get up, preparing to leave.
  • This is the first “Freaks” film in which people not from the “Freaks” team participated in writing the script. Screenwriters Fax Bahr and Adam Small previously wrote a parody of “Freaks” for their show MADtv.
