Nick of Time
Short description
Nick of Time follows Gene Watson, an accountant who arrives in Los Angeles with his young daughter Lynn after attending his ex-wife's funeral. At the train station, strangers abduct the girl and hand him a gun and a photograph. To get her back alive, he must kill the person in the picture within about ninety minutes, and he soon learns the target is a sitting governor. The film was released in 1995 and runs 89 minutes.
John Badham directed and produced the film from a screenplay by Patrick Sheane Duncan. It is the thirteenth of the fifteen films Badham directed in chronological order, coming after Drop Zone in 1994 and before The Jack Bull in 1999. Johnny Depp plays Gene Watson, with Courtney Chase as Lynn, Christopher Walken as Mr. Smith, Roma Maffia as Ms. Jones, Charles S. Dutton as Hucy and Peter Strauss as Brendan Grant. The credited cast runs to 35 names and the crew to 105. Made by Paramount on a budget of 33 million dollars, it took in about 8 million worldwide at the box office.
Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb the film holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 47,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from 835 votes. A critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 33 reviews places it below those viewer scores.
