What's left behind the scenes

  • The film had an unusual shooting schedule. Scenes with Tom Hardy were shot in two takes per night, as if the film was being shot in one take. Meanwhile, the rest of the actors were in a hotel room and simply talked to him on the phone.
  • Locke's cold appeared in the script because Tom Hardy actually caught a cold during production.
  • The BMW Locke drives is equipped with a low fuel warning system, and it would sound whenever the fuel was running low. The sound of this system interrupted Tom Hardy’s speech during takes, but director Steven Knight still left in the film shots capturing the actor’s annoyance during these interruptions, replacing the warning signal with a message indicating the character had an incoming call on a second line.
  • The film was shot over 5 nights using three cameras.
  • The car is started twice. The first time is visible on the tachometer, the second time is audible.
