Quicksilver
Short description
Jack Casey was a young star in finance until a bad call on the markets wiped out his savings and his father's money. He walks away from trading and takes a job as a bicycle messenger in San Francisco, where riders thread through traffic and climb steep hills to make their deliveries. The work is simple by comparison, and Jack takes to it, forming friendships with Hector, who has business ambitions of his own, and growing close to a fellow messenger named Terri. His parents and his girlfriend, however, see the job as a step down, and Jack has to decide whether he can trust himself again and build a life on firmer ground.
Quicksilver was released in February 1986 and runs 105 minutes. Thomas Michael Donnelly directed and wrote the screenplay, with Daniel Melnick and Michael I. Rachmil producing for Columbia Pictures. Kevin Bacon leads as Jack, alongside Jami Gertz, Paul Rodríguez, Rudy Ramos, Laurence Fishburne and Louie Anderson among 23 credited cast members. Made for about 10 million dollars, the film returned roughly 7 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 3.5 out of 10 from 16 reviews, while on TMDB its audience rating is 5.6 out of 10 from 107 votes, a gap that suggests moviegoers received it somewhat more warmly than reviewers did.
